Start monitoring your gender equality policies with the newly developed indicators!

In the framework of the pilot-project for the development of indicators to monitor the Charter (link), the Observatory is pleased to invite you to monitor your work on gender equality.

After one year of intensive work to develop the indicators, the project is now entering the “Monitoring phase”, offering the opportunity for signatories to use the newly developed indicators to monitor their activities related to the Charter.

As a first step, the monitoring is addressed to signatories in the European Union having signed the Charter before January 2014. The indicators will be available for all signatories by the end of the project in October 2015.

The monitoring is carried out through an online tool composed of the 76 indicators developed in this project. Signatories are required to collect data from  their local authority in order to fill in the indicators until the 15th of March 2015. The monitoring tool consists of an online survey and the signatories are invited to fill in information (by ticking an and filling in boxes) related to each indicator.

This exercise will allow signatories to reflect on their policies on gender equality and will be a great input for the Observatory since it will provide an overview of the situation of gender equality at the local and regional level in the EU. Moreover, it will help the Observatory and its partners in this project to ensure the quality of the indicators developed.

The results of the monitoring will be used by the study team[1] to elaborate a report presenting an overview on the situation of gender equality at local level in the European Union. The results will also be publicly available in an online database.

Please find below the links to the monitoring tool in the different languages. Once on the home page, please select your language to access the tool.
