Conference: Gender equality at the local level in 2017

Since 2009, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) has been actively promoting and contributing to implementation of the CEMR European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life.

In accordance with its mission, and with generous support of Swedish Government, in December 2011 the SCTM started a long-term cooperation programme with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR). The four-year long program “Support to Local Governments in Serbia in the European integration process” significantly contributed to the promotion of gender equality and gender mainstreaming at the local level. For the successful implementation of the programme, SCTM received the best practice award from the Network of Associations of Local Governments of South East Europe (NALAS).

SCTM is organising a conference “Gender equality at the local level, 2017” which will take place in Sava Centre (Belgrade, Serbia), on May 18th, from 11:00-15:00.

The aim of the conference is to discuss the existing issues and challenges of mainstreaming gender at the local level, but also to present new, innovative concepts that are going to be used in SCTM’s work in the coming years.
